Anyone use dishwasher detergent as a laundry booster?- can i use liquid detergent in dishwasher ,10 years ago. I have used both the liquid and powder versions of dishwasher detergent in the laundry. I usually use between 1/2 and 1 cup per load. In fact, SG founder Steve Hollander stated in one of the interviews NOT to use that much detergent. It is not necessary. You can definitely use the mixture of baking soda and dish soap in your dishwasher instead of a dishwashing detergent but I will not recommend you to entirely skip the dishwashing detergent. As the dishwashing liquids are specially designed to give you good results, using them once a week to clean your dishes is highly recommended.
